A Santa Barbara regional center was first opened in 1983. In 2004, a donor supported custom-built center at 2031 De La Vina Street was dedicated. With over 11,000 square feet of teaching and instruction space, plus a library, the center is uniquely designed for the needs of those who are blind or visually impaired. A state-of-the-art kitchen and technology center along with art, music and instructional rooms allow for a variety of independent living skills, orientation & mobility, and enrichment.

In this class, we listen to and discuss classic rock music of the 60’s and 70’s, focusing on the words but not neglecting the music to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the works, their creators, and the times.

Braille Institute’s trained Orientation & Mobility specialists are here to help you find your way around again for a new normal that keeps you active. We’ll work with you one-on-one so that you can be on the road again either alone, using a white cane, or with a guide dog. We also work with your caregiver to best support them as a human guide.
Class
JAWS is the best screen reader for Microsoft Windows users. In this 7-module course, you will learn how to change basic JAWS settings, navigate the Windows operating system, find web sites and emails, and edit Word documents.
