Travel Tools and Navigation (Maps and WayMap)
This interactive Orientation and Mobility workshop introduces participants to travel tools and navigation resources that can support greater independence, confidence, and safety when traveling with vision loss.
You’ll learn how accessible maps and navigation applications can be used to understand routes, identify landmarks, locate streets and intersections, and plan trips before leaving home.
The workshop emphasizes that navigation technology is a supportive travel tool, not a replacement for O&M skills. You will learn how to combine technology with environmental awareness, orientation strategies, auditory information, landmarks, street-crossing skills, and problem-solving techniques.
