Songwriting – All Levels
This class is crafted to support anyone who wants to write songs, whether just starting out or looking to become more advanced. We’ll start by walking step by step through the basics, like learning song structures, melodic and harmonic approaches and the basics of lyric writing. More advanced students will dive deeper into songwriting techniques and creative tools, such as key changes, time signature shifts, and using Thesaurus and Wikipedia for lyric inspiration.

What will I learn?
- Step-by-step how to write a song through the application of music theory basics, and studying popular songs
- How to fine tune your lyrics and melodies and to create a collection of catchy hooks and song themes that you can return to
What is this class like?
- Class will include presentations of various songwriting concepts and listening to songs that demonstrate them.
- Students will work either alone or in pairs to create finished songs that they will present to the class upon their completion.
