Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa and this is Shelby and we are occupational therapy interns here at Braille Institute. Thank you for joining us as this is the first lesson in the Maximizing Low Vision Series at Braille Institute. There are 7 lessons that we have prepared in total. Today we have prepared a lesson focusing on health management.

So before we start, I will briefly go over what health management is. So health management is defined as developing, managing, and maintaining routines for health and wellness. It can involve medication set-up which means identifying medication, looking at expiration dates and accurate dosages. It can also involve taking medication, so opening the bottles or packages and administering it properly.

Prioritizing health is very important as it can reduce the chances of diseases and other health complications. So we put together some slides with different devices that may be of interest or beneficial to you. Some of the devices that we will be explaining may not apply to you and that is okay, we just want to inform you of the different products that are out there and how to use them.

Course Objectives and Outline

Identify one strategy to measure and take medication
