Our programs and services are geared to help people with little to no vision.

Braille Institute Santa Barbara serves as an integral resource for residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties who are blind or visually impaired. The center uses its 11,000 square feet of teaching and program space to offer unique adult and youth classes.

Highlights of exciting classes and programs at Braille Institute Santa Barbara include:

Kitchen Confidence – Recently Renovated!

Regain confidence in the kitchen with this state-of-the-art program. It mixes lessons in cooking and techniques to handle sharp utensils and various appliances; with curriculum covering educational benefits on proper nutrition and technology.

Library Services

A core service beginning at the roots of the Braille Institute which includes access to a Telephone Reader Program, digital book machines and downloadable material.

Connection Pointe

An advanced technology center focused on teaching people who are blind and visually impaired how to use the latest mainstream and adaptive devices including smartphones, tablets, voice output software and much more.

Orientation & Mobility Consultations

A service customized to teach blind and visually impaired people to safely navigate their residence, neighborhood and surrounding areas.
