SENIOR GRANT WRITER — (Job#: 9-14)

Duties Include: Write and submit grant proposals and reports; prepare and monitor annual work plan of current and prospective donors; manage the proposal process, including preparation of cases for support sponsorship opportunities and program/project budgets; initiates and maintains contacts that lead to funding; researches new prospects and lapsed donors and reviews requests for proposals to determine funding opportunities.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in relevant field (Journalism. English, Communications); 3 to 5 years of non-profit experience with demonstrated track record of successful grant applications particularly $10,000 plus; must have superior writing, editing and communication skills; must be self motivated, must have strong organizational and project management skills and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment; competency in math, developing budgets and in setting fundraising goals; ability to drive and travel, particularly to Braille Institute Regional Centers (Santa Barbara, San Diego, Rancho Mirage and Anaheim); advanced working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.

 

SPROMOTORA, EL PODER SIN VER (On Call) – (Job#: 9-13)

Duties Include: Recruitment of participants at a variety of locations; churches, community centers, senior centers, health fairs, etc; provide lesson plans that meet the need of participants; measure participant outcomes through evaluation forms; use a variety of teaching strategies to instruct classes; complete all documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements: Previous experience working in community involvement; excellent Spanish language skills; ability to relate to a diverse clientele; valid California driving license and clean driving record.

 

BRAILLE PUBLISHING DIRECTOR — (Job#: 9-5)

Duties include: Direct the day-to-day operations of the Braille Publishing department including overseeing the strategic, budgetary and personnel issues; manage the selection, transcription and publishing of all Braille materials and tactile graphics produced by Braille Institute including the identification and selection of appropriate contract work, as well as review and approval of in-house projects and publications; supervise all Braille publishing projects/contracts from start to finish and establish and oversee job schedules, job costing and work flow plans; track, monitor and route projects and conduct regular status meetings with appropriate managers and other key personnel and communicate project status to internal and external customers regularly; oversee that accuracy and timeliness of monthly department reports; work closely with Braille Publishing team to ensure production quality and budget adherence.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with four (4) years of supervisory experience; effective written and communications skills; must have strong organizational and project management skills; ability to develop measurable goals, set priorities and evaluate process; advanced working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.

 

YOUTH ASSISTANT (On Call) — (Job#: 8-42)

Duties Include: Implement and evaluate individual and group skill based programs; maintain communication between program, families, educators and other community leaders; drive students in company vehicles to and from activities; insure all youth activities are conducted according to established safety policies and procedures;

Minimum Requirements: Valid California class C driving license; clean driving record; prior experience working with special needs children, youth, & young adults; ability to work a varied schedule; Class B driving license preferred, CPR & First Aid certified preferred.

Santa Barbara Regional Center

ORIENTATION & MOBILITY SPECIALIST — (Job#: 9-7)

Duties Include: Assess client’s Orientation & Mobility skills; develop and implement an instruction plan; use a variety of teaching strategies and adaptive training; prepare completion reports and monthly assessments; conduct seminars for staff, volunteers, students and the general public as needed.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Orientation & Mobility; Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist; effective communications skills; valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
