Donate Through Your Workplace

Many supporters of Braille Institute donate through their individual company’s Payroll Deduction or Employer Matching Gift Program.  Occasionally employees can also help direct significant contributions or grants to Braille Institute because the employee or a family member uses our services or is a Braille Institute volunteer.  You can personally help Braille Institute provide free programs and services to tens of thousands of blind and visually impaired children and adults by encouraging your employer to help you give to a cause that is close to your heart—Braille Institute.

Payroll Deduction
Generally, companies offer employees the opportunity to donate to their favorite charities through automatic payroll deductions in partnership with outside federations such as United Way or America’s Charities.  Federal, state and municipal employees are able to access this opportunity through campaigns such as the Combined Federal Campaign.  Look for Braille Institute of America, Inc. on the designation form and simply check it off.  If Braille Institute is not listed then almost all campaigns permit you to do a “direct designation.”  You may need to list our proper name, Braille Institute of America, Inc.  Our tax identification number: 95-1641426.

Matching Gifts
An Employer Matching Gift program enables companies and their employees to collaborate in their charitable giving.  Oftentimes an employer will double or triple the employee’s donation.  Generally, the employee selects a charity of his or her choice, completes the employer’s Matching Gift Application and submits the application with the donation to Braille Institute.

Employee Directed Donations
Sometimes a company will make a special large donation to Braille Institute because the employee or a family member uses our services or is a Braille Institute volunteer.  Braille Institute has received donations of $5,000 and more because a company employee took the initiative to seek help from his or her employer.

Please ask your Human Resources Department how you can support Braille Institute through your company’s Payroll Deduction, Matching Gift or Employee Directed Donations programs.
