Free Services for Visually Impaired Adults
Braille Institute offers a wide variety of activities, classes and events aimed at adults with limited vision. We offer two tracks:
The Life Skills Curriculum - Consists of courses designed to restore self-confidence and enable people who are blind and visually impaired to do familiar tasks in a new way. Core classes include Independent Living Skills, Orientation & Mobility, Sensory Awareness, Adaptive Cooking, Braille Reading and Writing, Computers, Home Management.
The Enrichment Curriculum – Consists of courses designed to enhance our students' enjoyment of their lives. The classes range from social and recreational activities to fuel one’s mind, body and spirit and enhance self-expression.
All classes at Braille Institute are completely free of charge!
Please contact the Regional Center Location nearest you to arrange an appointment with an admissions counselor. You must have a referral from an ophthalmologist, optometrist or health-care provider.
