What types of classes are offered?

What types of classes are offered?
Basically, two main types of instruction are available: core classes and enrichment classes.

The Core Curriculum: consists of courses designed to restore independence and enable people who are blind and visually impaired to do familiar tasks in a new way.

The Enrichment Curriculum: ranges from social and recreational activities to studies in liberal arts, music, history, creative arts and writing.

Is there a charge for attending classes?
There is no charge for any of the classes at Braille Institute for qualified individuals. However, you may be asked to pay a small fee for materials in some of the creative arts classes.

How do I sign up for classes?
Please contact the center nearest you to arrange an appointment with an admissions counselor. You must have a referral from an ophthalmologist, optometrist or health-care provider.
