Lives We've Impacted

| More

Here are just a few of the young people whose lives have been impacted by Braille Institute's exciting Youth & Teen Services program.

Seneca & Brittany – These two active 8-year-olds met in our Santa Barbara Youth Program. They became fast friends and have shown incredible growth socially and scholastically within a few short years.

Seneca loves math, gymnastics and soccer. Brittany runs track and is honing her skills on the piano and drums. Despite the fact that both are legally blind, they are proving daily that there is nothing they can't do. At Braille Institute they have participated in activities as wide-ranging as cooking, kayaking, writing and even skiing. And each found a friend for life.

Ryan – When he first joined the youth program, Ryan was shy and sometimes hesitant to try new activities. But his participation in programs at Braille Institute's Los Angeles Sight Center has given him self-confidence and the courage to try new things. Karate was one of those activities and he has been knocking down barriers—and his karate instructor—ever since. His parents have benefited too, participating in numerous workshops enabling them to better understand their son's needs and help him adapt to the sighted world.
