The Business of Living
There’s no denying that low vision adds some challenges to managing the business of everyday life, but a few simple adjustments can help you keep your affairs in order.
Getting Around Town
Being able to get around your home, neighborhood and community with ease is at the core of independent living. Low vision adds challenges, but by making some adjustments and learning new techniques, it’s entirely possible to continue to navigate your environment with confidence.
Kitchen Confidence
Preparing and enjoying a home-cooked meal is one of life’s most satisfying pleasures and provides a feast for all the senses. Fortunately, even those with low vision can often continue to navigate their kitchens with confidence by making a few simple adjustments.
Looking Good
No matter what your level of vision, looking your best helps you feel your best and face the world with confidence. Believe it or not, many of the skills and techniques involved in personal hygiene do not rely on vision and may only require you to pay closer attention to tactile cues or make a few alterations.
Staying Connected
Staying in touch with others, and with what’s happening in the world, is perhaps easier now than at any time in history. Especially within the last decade, amazing possibilities have opened up that provide unprecedented informational access to those with low vision.
Discover the World
Travel stimulates all the senses and can provide some of life’s most enjoyable and memorable experiences. In many ways, the world has also become a smaller and easier place to get around, even for people with low vision.
Fun and Fitness
Feeling fit and healthy and being able to take part in recreational and physical activities you enjoy, are at the core of what defines your quality of life. As you might expect, staying active and continuing to exercise is vital no matter what your level of sight, and many forms of exercise can be easily adapted for those with low vision.
Express Yourself
Even though your vision may have changed, you have more powerful assets—your imagination and all your other senses. With a few adaptations, you can continue the art forms you enjoy and reach new heights of enjoyment and satisfaction as you release your inner artist.
