On the Move: Francisco Zuniga
By Scott Kassel

In the summer of 2006 Francisco Zuniga was languishing in his bed, a place where he had remained, virtually immobile, for two full years.
Life hadn't been easy for him thus far, and these last two years, most difficult of all.

Growing up with juvenile diabetes, with no father around, had been hard enough, but then, at the age of 20, Francisco
began losing his sight to diabetic retinopathy.
And that was just the half of it. Diabetic neuropathy had also set in, a condition that made it so painful to walk that
Francisco could hardly get out of bed.
And he didn't want to get out of bed. "I wanted the pain to go away so badly," he remembered.
