PROGRAM MANAGER — (Job#: 8-13) Duties Include: Supervise the El Poder Sin Ver program, including outreach, participant instruction, intakes, evaluation and sub-contractors and consultants; assist with the efficient recruitment, training and evaluation of Promotoras to ensure performance in accordance with policies; work with Program Consultant to evaluate the effectiveness of all aspects of El Poder Sin Ver program and make appropriate recommendations for improvements as needed; keep necessary parties advised of all matters associated with the program. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related field (Health Services, Rehabilitation, Special Education); ability to relate to diversified clients and related professionals; excellent communication skills; valid driver's license with clean driving record; bilingual Spanish is highly preferred. ORIENTATION & MOBILITY SPECIALIST — (Job#: 8-12) Duties Include: Assess client's Orientation & Mobility skills; develop and implement an instruction plan; use a variety of teaching strategies and adaptive training; prepare completion reports and monthly assessments; conduct seminars for staff, volunteers, students and the general public as needed. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in Orientation & Mobility; Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist; effective communications skills; ability to relate to diversified clients; valid driver's license with clean driving record; knowledge of foreign language(s) preferably Spanish is a plus. DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR — (Job#: 8-10) Duties Include: Manages a proactive program to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit Foundations, corporations and community organizations; manages a proposal development process, including developing cases for support and budgets; develops and maintains relationships with Foundation and corporate representatives; maintains a prioritized list of Foundation and corporate prospects; conducts corporate and Foundation prospect research; maintains list of BIA Fundraising priority projects. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in relevant field (Journalism, English, Communications); Master's degree in relevant field preferred; 3 to 5 years experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified, including grant writing, writing, editing and marketing; successful and verifiable track record at obtaining grants; must have strong interpersonal skills; advanced working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel; CFRE Preferred. YOUTH/CAREER SERVICES MANAGER — (Job#: 8-3) Duties Include: Supervision of Youth and Career program team supporting all coaching aspects for strong employee development which supports program outcomes; Evaluate program effectiveness and implement new program strategies; represent BIA throughout LA County through collaborative efforts that support the strategic program plan model; train staff and volunteers; assist in other areas and departments as needed. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field with four (4) years of supervisory experience; experience in special education and vocational development; experience with Visually Impaired population; effective written and communications skills; valid driver's license with clean driving record; knowledge of foreign language(s) preferably Spanish is a plus. PROOFREADER (Part-time) — (Job#: 6-54) Duties Include: Proofread all assigned Braille materials in accordance with departmental and Library of Congress standards and regulations; provide explanatory notes to off-site transcribers on any questioned errors marked for correction; maintain a certifiable proficiency in both mechanical and electronic literary Braille transcription and a working knowledge of Nemeth Code; serve as a liaison and resource to volunteer and contract transcribers. Minimum Requirements: Must possess proofreader certification from NLS, and have an understanding of the Braille Formats code. Certification and/or experience with Nemeth code is preferable. Knowledge of foreign language(s) Braille is a plus. | |||

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT — (Job#: 8-8) Duties Include: Provide support for non-sighted co-workers; schedule low vision appointments and make reminder calls; receive and record in-kind donations; answer phones & receive visitors; data entry; monitor postage machine & vending machine funds; special projects. Minimum Requirements: User knowledge of office equipment; computer skills; people skills/customer service; flexibility—may be required to cover other administrative positions. OUTREACH INSTRUCTOR (Part-time) - (Job#: 7-9) Duties Include: Teach outreach classes; assist in developing and implementing student recruitment strategies for outreach locations; maintain cooperative relationships with staff of shared facilities. Minimum Requirements: Excellent teaching skills to include goals, content selection, presentations and discussions; must have excellent communication skills; must be a self-starter with good reasoning skills; must have a clean driving record and a valid license; prefer a resident of south Orange County. |

YOUTH ASSISTANT (On Call) — (Job#: 8-6 & 8-11) Duties Include: Assist students with youth events and activities; transport students to and from classes and events; assist Youth and Career Services Coordinator with planning activities and events; on-call position. Minimum Requirements: Valid California class C driving license; clean driving record; enjoy working with children, youth, & young adults; Class B driving license preferred, CPR & First Aid certified preferred.
