Institute presents the Braille Challenge
The
Braille Challenge™ is a two-stage academic competition
designed to motivate school-age braille readers to excel in this vital medium.
We ask teachers of the visually impaired from across the nation to encourage their
students to participate.
The
chance to compete in the Braille Challenge™ can be a great
motivator for all braille-reading students. Our aim is to build their enthusiasm
by providing a family event that celebrates excellence in braille literacy skills.
Everyone
can compete in the preliminary round. Then, the top 50 students are invited to
Southern California, where they match braille skills against their peers at the annual June Challenge.
The
Braille Challenge™ is a part of Braille Institute's literacy
initiative dedicated to making a variety of children's literature available in
braille and providing services that compliment academic goals. Our literacy initiative
also supports accessibility to assistive technology through subsidy and loan programs
for students, and helps provide innovative products and programs that support
braille as a primary medium for people who are blind and visually impaired.
